12.12  '08

The International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino! has been founded for young and very young people who treat the cinema as a journey into the unknown, a challenge and a thrilling adventure. It shows films which avoid cultural and commercial clichés. Each year, there are a number of films for children and young people which, thanks to their sincerity, artistry and original outlook on the world of the young generation, escape excessive didacticism or mindless entertainment. The mission of the Festival is, first of all, enabling young audience to see films like this and promoting artistic cinema for children and young people.

It is the Festival’s tradition to organise meetings with film directors, actors and film professionals from all over the world. The organisers invite a few hundred producers and distributors, as well as teachers, pedagogues and organisers of cultural events. One part of the Festival is the Forum, which hosts representatives of film, media, science and educational circles connected with audiovisual media for young audiences. Organizers inspire meetings of professionals who usually do not have a chance to exchange thoughts and discuss ideas together.

The programme of the IYAFF Ale Kino! features fresh live-action and animated movies from all over the world, made in the recent years. All of them tell stories of young people, make up a colourful mosaic of pictures from various cultures and use film language in an original way. The Festival offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the diversity of children’s and young people’s movies. Competition films are judged by three juries and by the audience. The international professional jury made up of professionals who deal with culture and film education, awards the main Festival prize of Golden Goats for the best live-action film and animation for children and young people, as well as a CIFEJ award. Children’s jury awards Marcinek for the best children’s film, while young people’s jury - Marcin, for the best young people’s film. Festival organisers also give a special prize of Platinum Goats for special achievement in the film art and media aimed at children and young people.
