Poland’s largest audiovisual organization

Polish Filmmakers Association is Poland’s largest organization of film professionals. The Association promotes Polish film in Poland and abroad, supports talented young filmmakers, produces debut films. The Association is the member of leading international audiovisual organizations. As an organization of collective copyrights management it cooperates with multiple institutions around the world.

The association regroups 1700 members, among them directors, cinematographers, screenwriters, sound operators and sound directors, sound and image editors, animators, costume-designers, set-designers, producers, production managers, literary critics, stuntmen and other professionals from the film and audiovisual arts sector.

Polish Filmmakers Association exists since 1966. Its Presidents were a.o. Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Kawalerowicz, Janusz Majewski. Jacek Bromski is the President of the Association since 1996.

Polish Filmmakers Association cooperates with major institutions of the Polish film industry, especially the Polish Film Institute. The President of the Association of Polish Filmmakers is also president of the Polish Film Institute Council. The Association co-operates with the Polish Television, the National Film School in Lodz, the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers, major cultural organizations in Poland, as well as the Polish Parliament, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Chancellery of the President of Poland.

Polish Filmmakers Association organizes and supports Poland’s leading film events, a.o.: The Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Cracow Film Festival, “The Young and Cinema" Debut Films Festival in Koszalin, the Era New Horizons festival in Wrocław, and the Camerimage Festival of Cinematography.

Together with the Polish Film Institute, Polish Filmmakers Association brings Polish cinema to International Film Festivals in Cannes and Berlin. It supports Polish film festivals around the world - including Russia, the Netherlands, the United States, and Germany. An ongoing cooperation with China covers a periodical organization of festivals of Chinese cinema in Poland, and Polish cinema retrospectives and screenings in various cities in China, such as Beijing, Guanghzou and Shanghai.

As an entity actively involved in the organization of many prestigious film festivals, the Association can be an important partner in organizing events presenting Polish film culture around the world.
